Frequently Asked Questions

I don’t identify as a woman, can I still come?

Our goal is to create a safe and welcoming space for all women, trans-women, genderqueer, and nonbinary climbers to join us at the festival. Harassment or discrimination will absolutely not be tolerated and will result in being asked to leave the event.

Do I need to have a partner to attend this festival?

Absolutely not! We hope to create an environment for you to come as you are and meet people throughout the weekend to climb with.

Do I need to be really good at climbing to attend?

Absolutely not! However, if you are on the newer side, please look into attending a clinic so you can get some one-on-one support throughout the weekend.

Are scholarships available for those with significant financial need?

Yes! While we really strive to keep the festival affordable for all of us, we understand that the festival may seem unattainable at certain times of the year or for certain budgets. A limited number of full scholarships (~10) are available for the 2025 Montana Women’s Climbing Festival (thank you to the OnX Community Fund for this support). You can access the scholarship application form HERE!

Does the climbing festival happen rain, snow, smoke, or shine??

ABSOLUTELY. This is Montana in the fall so anything can happen! We will make the best of whatever weather is thrown our way. The group pavilion at the campsite provides significant rain and inclement weather shelter. September is wildfire season in Montana, and fires have neared Hellgate Canyon in the past! Rest assure that we will monitor fires diligently in the fall and have nearby backup locations if need be!

Can I bring my dog?

Nope. Leave the pup at home please! You are able to camp at nearby sites with dogs, but they still aren’t allowed in our group site or with you at the crag as a festival participant!

Can I bring my kids?

Sure! This is an all-ages event, as long as folks under 16 come with a guardian that is totally cool!

Can I bring my camper?

No tow-behind campers allowed - if it’s a pop-up in the back of your truck, that’s cool! Our goal is to have as many participants as possible join us for the weekend which means physical camping space is limited. If you would like to book your own campsite and bring your camper, that's possible, we just can’t have them on our sites.

I got a ticket and can’t make it - what should I do?

Unfortunately, we can NOT offer refunds. While we cannot offer refunds, we strive to facilitate ticket transfers whenever possible! You must find someone who wants your ticket (tag us in your stories or post in our Facebook group for help finding someone!). Note we will not post about you ticket for you, but we are happy to repost! If tickets sell out and a waitlist forms, we can offer ticket transfers to folks on the waitlist. Please note that as the festival date approaches, processing refunds and ticket transfers becomes more challenging for organizers.

The deadline to request a ticket transfers is Sunday, September 7th. Please email us at hello@mtwomensclimbingfest.com if you might need to transfer your ticket to another person.

I sustained an injury or caught a virus and can’t make it - what should I do?

We encourage you to still attend even if you can’t climb! The atmosphere is truly magical, and femme energy is healing energy! Some of our organizers have participated with injuries before and still had a fulfilling weekend that felt worth the effort 100 times over. There is plenty of programming, raffles, meals, and conversations outside of the climbing! Sorry, no refunds for these situations either. Ticket transfers are still an option though!
